They are touchscreens and have online capabilities. Their display resolution is the same and they have the same screen size, which is 5 inches diagonally. The differences are the Tomtom Via uses voice recognition technology while the Start does not have voice recognition. The Via has a wide map coverage than the Tomtom Start. Conclusion
It is indeed clear that the Via is superior to the Tomtom Start. It is more users friendly and has more functionality and variety compared to the Start. Besides that, the software is versatile and the hardware is diverse, covering all areas and keeping up to date with the latest technological advancement. Although the Via is more expensive by 35$ I would buy it compared to the Tomtom Start which costs 100$.
