– Which dash cam that is generally more recommended.

About KDLINKS X1
KDLINKS X1 has become one of the best-selling dash cams in the market, for good reasons. It is quite affordable, yet it comes with a full gamut of features. It has a clear 2.7-inch display, a separate GPS module which can be plugged into the camera, 160-degree Full HD video, and an included 8GB SD card.

The field of view is not the widest among dash cams – KDLINKS DX2 is the one that has the privilege – but it is already wide enough to capture everything that may happen on the street in front of you. The video quality is very good, with excellent details and colors. There is some fish-eye effect due to the wide field of view, but you can employ a de-fishing filter in your video software whenever the footage is needed.

The dash cam is thin, small, and lightweight. The locking suction mount is very easy to adjust. There are actually two mounts available, one has the GPS module and the other one without. KDLINKS X1 has a micro-USB port for power and for offloading videos to your PC, so you don’t need a memory card reader.

The only issue with KDLINKS X1 is that you need to set the date and time manually. There is no timestamp feature. This is very inconvenient, especially when in a legal situation.

About KDLINKS DX2
KDLINKS DX2 is a newer model compared to KDLINKS X1. Unlike its predecessor, KDLINKS DX2 is a dual-camera dash cam system with one camera aimed to the front (1080p resolution, 165 degrees field of view) and the other one to the rear (720p resolution, 125 degrees field of view). This is why the camera claims to have a total field of view of 290 degrees. By the way, you can read the detailed specifications from KDLINKS here!

KDLINKS DX2 is equipped with a six-glass Nikon lens, which has a maximum aperture of F/1.6. This is a very capable lens that can easily gather enough light in low-light situations. In addition, KDLINKS DX2 also employs the Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) technology, which makes the camera pick the widest spectrum of luminosity all the time. Whether it is day or night, in an open road or in a tunnel, the camera always gives you good quality and visible footage.

Furthermore, KDLINKS DX2 supports loop recording, gravity sensing, and memory lock. Just like most other dash cams, KDLINKS DX2 records to the memory card in a loop, meaning that after the storage is full the camera will erase the oldest video for the new recordings. However, when an accident happens, the associated video is locked so that it won’t be erased.
