Fujitsu Scansnap ix500 Vs S1500

With new scanners released every year it’s hard to know whether it’s actually worth it to spend the money on an upgrade or save it by purchasing an older model. Well in this article we’re here to help by specifically looking at two of the best scanners on the market, the Fujitsu Scansnap ix500 Vs S1500.

Fujitsu Scansnap ix500 Vs S1500

First off the similarities. While the ix500 was ostensibly released to replace the older s1500 they still share a lot of qualities. Both scanners can handle double sided documents with ease. Likewise, both offer a multitude of automatic processing features that guarantee a high quality digital image once a document has been scanned, these include automatic color detection, orientation and alignment. Now for the differences. Despite the similarities previously listed Fujitsu does provide some major improvements from the S1500 with the big one being the fact that whereas the s1500 had to be physically attached to a computer via a cable in order to scan, the ix500 can connect over a wireless network, making it convenient for receiving documents from any room in your house or office and to your computer, phone or tablet. The other major difference is in speed. While the s1500 was pretty fast to begin with the ix500 improves, be it ever so slightly, outpacing the older machine by a little over half a second for each double sided page.

Conclusion
So all that being said, which scanner should you go with? That really depends on your needs. If it’s a big deal for you to be able to scan and receive documents from multiple locations untethered then the ix500’s wireless feature alone makes it well worth it. If on the other hand you’re scanning and receiving to one primary desktop computer that doesn’t move around then you’re better off with the S1500 given that it still delivers the same fantastic image quality and ease of use. Whichever of the two machines you choose, rest assured that they’re going to make scanning a breeze and your life a little easier!
