Considering the prices that are often quite expensive, choosing the right thermal imaging system product can be a daunting task. One of the most popular brands is Flir, and today we are going to compare its products, Flir C2 and Flir E4. In a prior article, we have ever compared Flir E4 to Flir E5. Flir E4 stands as the most affordable model from the Flir Ex series. Even so, Flir C2 is still considerably cheaper than Flir E4. Thus, people begin to wonder if they should choose Flir C2 or Flir E4. If you are having the same question, then you have come to the right place! In the following article, we are going to compare Flir C2 and Flir E4 in order to see which makes the best choice.
Putting Flir C2 and Flir E4 side by side, we can certainly tell that they are designed very differently. Flir C2 is made to be compact, having a small box-like body similar to the body of a smartphone. It is also very lightweight. You can easily slip Flir C2 into your pocket without having any discomfort. However, due to the design, you use Flir C2 pretty much in a way you would use your smartphone’s camera. Your grip on it is not exactly firm. On the other hand, Flir E4 has a handlebar with the lens and the display screen on one of the ends. Flir E4 is slightly heavier than Flir C2, but you can grip the handlebar firmly with one hand. Additionally, Flir E4 is more rugged than Flir C2 by being waterproof. No need to worry about getting some wet!
Flir E4 has a slightly wider field of view than Flir C2, making you able to see more of the field on the screen. Flir E4 also has a wider temperature range than Flir C2, with maximum temperature detection of 482F and minimum temperature detection of -4F. Most probably, the wider range will be a lot more beneficial for professional needs, where extreme heat levels are being handled. Flir E2 also has built-in calibration feature. Flir C2 doesn’t. However, Flir C2 does have a video output that can be handy if you ever need to project the images to another device. This is not always necessary.
