It features a metal foot, as opposed to the original model’s plastic foot, and there is now a lever lock for rapid mounting to a stand or a camera. The newer model also comes with 9 custom functions. However, the dedicated wireless mode switch has been replaced with the menu controls. On the good side, if your camera is armed with Canon DIGIC III processor or newer, Canon 430EX II can be controlled directly via the in-camera menu.
